Black and grey is the backbone of the studio. Everything is built from one pigment diluted into a range of greys, so the whole piece lives or dies on shading — smooth gradients, controlled contrast and highlights left as bare skin. It is the style we are asked for most often in Milton Keynes, and the one that ages best.
It suits realism, portraits, religious and memorial work, wildlife, script and large-scale cover-ups. Because there is no colour to carry the image, the drawing underneath has to be right before a needle touches skin, so expect a proper design stage before your session.
